Welcome to Madrid, Liz! I just today heard of a place called Sala Rock Palace. It sounds perfect for students your age (I'm a bit old for that, sob, LOL). Check it out on Youtube. If it's your speed, it's 3 blocks east of Metro line 3's Palos de la frontera Station. Just beware, the Metro turns into a pumpkin at 1:30 am, although I have heard there are Buho (Night Owl) buses that run after that. Enjoy Madrid, there's lots to do here. .
