Do I need to speak Spanish to live in Las Terrenas,where do most Expats from the US live and can I live comfortable on $1900 a month income.

First off welcome to the forums. Lots of good folks here with great information.
To answer your questions
If you are going to live here it does not matter where you are going to be (las Terrenas or elsewhere) you should learn basic Spanish
Most US Expats live in the Cabarete/Sosua area (this according to the US embassy)
If you are frugal and depending on your rent $1900 should be just fine.

You are welcome. Have you been here before? You should come for a month or so and explore the country and see if it "fits" for you. The DR is not for everyone.
