Finding software developers in Colombia

Hi guys,
I am thinking of visiting to Colombia in hopes of finding some good IT software developers. I heard Colombia is focusing more on technical developments and education. Is anyone in this group does business in IT or software industry? Can anyone guide me to some insights you gathered based in similar situation like me.
I am from Atlanta, GA.

thanks and hope to connect with someone who has similar search and business perspective.

Dear Jag,

Welcome to the Colombia forums of Expat.com ...

What exactly is your main objective?  Are you looking to hire or give work to IT specialists?

Medellín has developed an international reputation as a good place for digital nomads.

If you post again, you may be able to entice more responses than you've received so far on day one .. if you reveal more about your true objective(s) and the nature of the business you have or will pursue.

Thanks for your reply. I am in consulting business for data reporting and i am looking to hire nearshore database developers that can remotely work with me.
Someone suggested to to hire some talent remotely before i can think of opening up business in Colombia.

thanks
Jag

Hey Jag, I'm Ricky - I'm actually a Kiwi but I have more than a decade's experience working for and with devs in Colombia - mainly Bogota.  I've worked in and with multi-national digital agencies, as well as firms offering onshore and offshore software development services [I'm an I.T. Business English coach].
You're going to the right place if you want to find rockstar coders, but as in all things Colombian, you have to have your wits about you, if you know what I mean.
My first thought is that these guys [well the experienced ones anyway] want job security, as you can understand...I [and they] would like to know what you can offer in this regard.
What types of devs are you looking for exactly? which skills, languages, databases, libraries, frameworks, levels of experience?
I have tons more questions, but these will do for now.
You c an find me all over the net as "Kiwiprofesor" - [email protected]
Cheers, Ricky
