30% ruling + opting for non-resident taxpayer status - any downsides?

Hi all,

I moved to the Netherlands in August last year and understand the 'dreaded' tax-return is soon upon us!

I'm eligible for the 30% ruling and aware that I am required to complete the lengthy M-form due to re-locating mid-way in the financial year.

As far as i'm aware, my 30% ruling eligibility also means I can opt for 'non-resident' taxpayer status, which means I don't need to pay taxes from assets abroad.

Does anyone know if there is a downside for opting to be a non-resident taxpayer? Is there anything I should be cautious of?

I hope to seek the advice of an expat tax advisor (located near the Hague) so if you have any personal recommendations I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance!

Tom

Hello,
Check www.aangifte24.com, I did there my m-form tax settlement. Everything was clear and easy to do.
I received my tax return very quickly, after 3 months :)
Best regards,
