Bahrain Mad Dash

Got an itch to hit Bahrain later this week.  Leave Thurs afternoon, spend Thurs night (party), and drive home Friday afternoon or early Fri AM (say) 2 AM.  I drive a new full size Chevy 4x4 so can fit one comfortably or two with a little less room.  CD player and dash cable for Ipod or MP3 for tunes.

Acommodations negotiable, individual rooms, share romms, whatever.  I usually stay at the Ramada (50 BD but might be able to get rate) or Days Hotel (35 BD).  Both near the fun spots.

PM me if interested.  I'll cover the gas.

Now, thats what I call a high powered expat cab service...
go for it "young" guys!

:sosad:

Nah!!  You going to Scallini's Monday night?  Let's chat then so I can better understand your concerns for uncontrolled misbehavior causing jail-time.

I thought more than one woman would be fine as you are escorting each other - isn't that so?  You could both go!

When Jill is out here, when we go to Bahrain that we can take female passengers. It should not be a problem, I hope.

Oh,can a poor lil baby accompany u for free

or perhaps my friends form Expat.com can contribute and give it to Civengr for me :P....Hey Allie u r the in-charge for "The mission impossible":cool::cool:

I am sure I am not the only one with a vehicle. If others have the capability (papers) to cross into Bahrain in their vehicle, the more the merrier.

Unfortunately, this is not true.  A single woman can only go out with 'families,' husband and wife, as the wife's friend.

Well, if Ian get's his visa sorted today we are going!

ummmm.. if you're going, please bring me, too :gloria

Can you catch a ride there.  Take a taxi across and then hook up with your ride on the other side?

What a bizarre thing!

:(:(:(:(:(

me getting ignored

It may be a great business opportunity in the region to issue temporary marriage certificates to facilitate such mad dash excursions..... and avoiding the soup kitchen inside the cooler?

nonz, we are not ignoring you.  We need to discuss the details and options, hopefully monday night at Scallini's.

Let's make a plan on this tomorrow when we all meet up for the meal.  Providing Ian get's his damn visa sorted today - it should be no problem.

What happens if when you married you both kept your own surname? Do they expect the woman to always take the mans name?

No, I suspect not.

My hubby is listed on my Saudi Visa as my sponsor.  So I guess, I am his 'property!"

Funny thing happened to me at the airport last night...  Coming through Customs with hubby, I was told to go to the 'Ladies line..."   Not sure why, it was a bit awkward!

After being away, Its always like coming back into the stone age!  But I guess thats true of many places, I just haven't been to them yet!  lol

No - but could make things difficult to prove you are husband and wife.  Best way around that is to always have a copy of your marriage certificate with you as that will explain the surname difference, but also she should carry her passport.  In Saudi the surname is the family name so there is an assumption of the spouse being the same name.  As CAF says, the woman is listed on the Iqama so that will also help.

Damn so that means not being able to pass a floozie off as the wife :lol::lol:

And in case any of our mutts read this, that is a joke!

In the new plastic card Iqamas the dependent family member has a UNIQUE Iqama number together with the Iqama Number of the male Head of the family under whose sponsorship the family is granted the residency. You cant fool that system unless you are able to oil the Database Administrator at the PPT office.

mutts?  you referring to desertdog ?!?

Id rather pretend to be a little bit Mutt n Jeff....
I know Dave will understand?

DesertDog's got his nose in the sand looking for his bone; he called it vacation :)

What was that Musicman, speak up.

BTW, what are you implying by that remark?

I bet his tail is wagging too? Lets hope he doesnt see any fire hydrants on Olaya Road?

I knew you wouldnt hear me clearly Dave... You just gotta keep moving those plates of meat....

You look quite smart in that photo MM, did you have a whistle and toot?

This is getting extremely interesting conversation.....

Not at that time Dave, times were lean then and we were just climbing the Apples and Pears. We surely could have done with an Isaac then.
