OEA, Libya

I'm an English teacher and have been offered a position by the Oxford English Academy in Tripoli from August. I'd be grateful if anyone could give me some tips about living in Libya and also if they know anything about the school. Thanks friends - Steve

Welcome Steve,
I don't live in Libya yet but soon Insha Allah.
I can offer you the tips I have been given and I would recommend you read through other posts, even older ones.

The biggest one I get is to not go out at night especially alone. Most people say it is not safe. There are a few locals that insist it is fine but this opinion is a small minority in the advice I've been given.

Others say to bring books to read as there is not a lot to do, and internet can be slow at best, and completely not working (along with the electricity) at the worst.

I've been told the beaches are lovely. The heat in summer is extreme. And patience is an absolute must as things are done slowly and closing of stores/offices can be done randomly due to safety or even mood.
I hope that helps.
Ask more specific questions as they come to you.
Best Wishes
