I want to extend a visa by another month. Are these details still current?
"Suzhou PSB Ph 522 566100 Ext 20593
201 Renmin Lu Look for a lane called Dashitou Xiang by the main gate. The visa office is about 200m down the lane."
How many days before my current expiry date should I apply? (Someone recommended the very last day - to get the maximum number of extended days - but is that too late?)
How strict are they about extending? Could I be refused - because just because they want to clamp-down on visitors or something?
Do they ask for proof of funds? I have my pass-book with me for a US$ account - but that's not a Chinese bank. I have a Chinese bank account in Beijing - but not easy to get a balance statement here in Suzhou. Someone said that they just need to photocopy my chinese Visa Debit Card - is that correct? What exactly do they need to see?
I thought of taking out a wad of cash, but with 100RMB note being the largest bank note - that's not too convenient - and I could get mugged. I've heard that some regions insist on a bank account within the same city - and don't recognise international banks. I can't just flash my HSBC Premier card. How do I prove I have the money?
Anything else? I have a "Registration Form for Temporary Residence". Photos. What else?
