Hey,

My name is Dan. I'm first generation Australian with Austrian heritage. I work as a Screen Editor here in Queensland.

I'm planning on moving over to Austria in the latter half of this year. Most of my family are living in this beautiful country, and I'm eager to be closer to them. Also, I'm for a change of scenery. I have lots of questions regarding this move an am hoping some of you friendly bloggers out there wouldn't mind helping to answer them/point me in the right direction.

First of all, where in Austria would be the best for film/television/video work? Is there much of an industry?

Thanks,
Dan

In June 2011 I left my country in order to spend three months in Vienna. It was for something like German summer course holidays.

Later I decided to stay there longer to pursue my dreams and to do things that I have never done before. The city itself is an inspiration and I was in search of new challenges. Despite all the problems and the difficulties, it ended up being one of the best decisions that I took – at least until now – and I am more sure day by day.

If you want to find more about life in Vienna and my advenures, have a look at my blog theviennesegirl.com/

Thank you all,
Silia

Bad Vöslau is the heart of a wine growing area, so you could contact the Wine Tavens and see if there is any work going. I am in the next town.

Hi I'm Mark from New Zealand.  Katrin is my wife and from Austria.
We have just arrived from NZ and are living near Feldkirch in Vorarlberg (near Swiss German border) with her family until our shipping container arrives and we can properly get set up again.
Baby on the way - is due in September.
Looking for the right dog for our growing family.
My German is at holiday maker level but we'll be working hard on that over the next few weeks so I can get working asap.
My last job was driving big truck in NZ but I have lots of experience as bar and restaurant manager.
I spent some time as a Scuba Instructor and Dolphin Swimming guide in NZ and also taught water safety to schoolkids.
Looking to meet up with english speaking expat people to share experiences with, and maybe we can help improve each others German too.
Best regards, Mark and Katrin

Welcome to Austria

[Moderated: off topic]

Hi vivi trip,

Welcome on board :)

Can you please keep it in English on the Anglophone Forum so as the other members can understand and participate to the discussions as well :)

Thank you

hi my name is dodo,
i'm from austria and live in vienna since 4 years. i joined this site to meet new people and also practice my english skills. so if you feel kinda lost in vienna or just want someone to hang out with the city i'd be happy to meet you :)

Gruss Gott! no German keyboard but I'm not used to them anyway. We live in Vienna and this is where we've been based for over 10 years now, though my work until 2 years ago was in Romania. And we have family in the UK and Italy so we come and go. Right now I'm trying to market a book I've put together on Romania - so if there are any Romanians listening I'd be very glad to hear from you. And anyone else for that matter. Tschuss!

Hi,  my husband and I are probably moving to Vienna in October so he can attend University of Vienna.  I would like to get a job as soon as possible.  I only speak English though with minimal German and Spanish.  Does anyone have suggestions on where or what field would be my best bets to start applying?  I have experience in hotels, retail, and I've taught preschool, middle school, and high school math.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There are lots of hotels in Vienna, it all depends on your budget?

Vienna is friendly place, it has been voted 5 times in a row for the best place to live in the world. I can't say there is nothing to avoid really.

I am software engineer from Mumbai, will be coming on an assignment for more than a year in Vienna. I am very anxious about travelling to Vienna. It would be helpful if someone would guide me here.

Hi everyone, I'm from Vietnam and now living in Linz. It would be nice to join some activities with you guys sometimes. Kind regards, Xu. :)
