Life in Egypt

This is right. Some years ago expats could find a job even without any formal qualification. Nowadays you do need to be able to offer expertise as the job market is squeezing and opportunities are scarce. Having post-graduate qualifications might make the difference between you getting the job or being unemployed, not only in Egypt, but in the Gulf and South Asia as well. The time when foreigners could get a job simply because they spoke foreign languages is far gone. Unless you speak Chinese, perhaps.

If you are a professional used to western working patterns and ethics, you might find Egypt a fairly challenging and, at times, frustrating environment. Things here are done differently. Slowly and inefficiently. Don't complain, and don't try to change things. You will not be understood and might be perceived as a 'threat'.
