Hi everyone,
I am a 30 year old single woman. My company is sending me from Paris to New York, to work there for a few years. Yes, that's the dream!
And yet, actually, I will not work in NYC, but in Westchester, between White Plains and Port Chester. So I am wondering where I should actually live.
Of course I would like to get a taste of the Big Apple... I consider living close to Grand Central Station or East Harlem 125th street. But the commute might be super long, if not impossible (train + bus, or train + scooter). Bronx would be closer, but I really don't know which neighborhood I should avoid or go to.
But some may think I should probably live in White Plains or somewhere on Metro North to only enjoy NYC on week ends, and drive to work in less than 30 minutes in my own car.
Someonelse I know over there finally mentionned... Stamford, Connecticut.
Is there anyone here doing such commute from NYC to Westchester everyday?
Where's the best place to live if so? Is it that painful?
Should I give up the idea of living in NYC?
Let's say in the end that driving and housing budget are not that much of an issue, and I don't mind living either with roomates or on my own.
Thanks for any input you may have on my case!
Flo
