I'm a single woman .I' really like what I've read and researched about my desired move. How does one come to investigate the possibilities; and get many questions answered? Is there such a thing as hosts of some type? Thanks

Whether in Ecuador or Panama (which I am more familar with) you can find a decent variety of areas from which to choose, including cooler mountain climates to beachfront communities.  That's not the hard part.  The difficult part is figuring out how you are wired. I've purchased property in a remote beach development only to figure out I wanted to be able to walk to stores, restaurants and bars.  In other words, the relative isolation I thought I wanted was really not what I wanted.  Others, looking for fulltime living, are completely turned off by the relative crowd and congestion of a vacation beach community and want more "remote" living, such as along the northern coast areas where they have relative solitude.  I think you need to visit all the areas of potential interest and try and place yourself in the area - not for a day or two but for an extended period of time.  Not only will you better identify the type of area you want, but also whether you could really stand living in a new country.

We're from Atlanta too and are planning on going to Ecuador in September for a scouting trip.  We are going to concentrate on towns on the coast.  Have you been there yet?

Just read the blogs are very helpful I find. I am single lady I found out there are many just like us moving there or living there I am going soon as I can retire.

finding Hosts to experience different regions of a country is a very good idea gagirl. It makes for a softer landing for sure. Some sites specialise in this type of accommodation, or anyone here is a potential Host. Some of us have an extra room and wouldn't mind showing you around. The company is always welcome, as Expats seek Expats. Ask and you shall receive.

Thank you. The ad is about an apt for rent in Puerto Lucia.
