Air and water transport in the Congo

 

Due to the tranportation problems in the Congo, air transport seems to be the only effective means of moving between many places within the country, but it is the most dangerous kind of transportation. All congolese air transport companies are on the black list of the European Union. On the other hand, the Congo has thousands of kilometres of navigable waterways. Traditionally water transport has been the best way to move and covers approximately two-thirds of the country. Best is to find a serious shipping company with a well maintained boat («pousseur» or «balénaire»).
