Housing in Melbourne

We are looking to move to Melbourne in August this year. My wife has a job in the Melbourne Clinic in Richmond and we would like to know which area would be the ideal place  to rent or  buy a house in  that is not too far from the hospital, near parks and walks, good for dogs and has good public transport links to the city and shops.
