Getting married in the Virgin Islands

Hi all,

We invite all the ones who got married in the Virgin Islands or who are about to get married in the Virgin Islands to participate in this thread :)

What are the formalities to get married in the Virgin Islands? Is it the same for a couple of foreigners of for a mixed couple (between a foreigner and a native of the Virgin Islands)?

Are the procedures complicated?

How long does it take to carry out all the formalities?

Thank you in advance for participating,

Armand

Getting married in the VI isn't that hard. You need to go to the Superior Court on either island, show passport and fill out an application for a marriage license. You have to wait I believe either 7 or 10 days and then can go back and pick up the license.
It has a expiration date of 60 days on it. You can take it to any church and be married or you can be married by any of the Judges in the Court.
The fee for the license is $100.00
The fee for a Judge or Pastor is around $200.00
Might be a church cleaning fee of around $100.00.
Anyone can call either Superior Court on St. Thomas or St. Croix and get info too.
They (may) waive the waiting time or make other arrangements if someone comes for a weekend turnaround and wants to get married. The Court is the best to answer that question.

Thanks for the info DogloverfromVI :)
