Safety around the Basra region

Hi all,

I am currently scheduled to fly out to Basra in September to work for a big company near Basra, can somebody advise on the safety situation around the area, once at the oil field I will be held on site for my rotation and not allowed to leave.
Collect to and from the airport is also full PSD.

I know the majority of attacks are North at the moment but do opportunist attacks still pose a threat?

Grateful for any replies from anyone living or working in the area.
