Salary and cost of living in Copenhagen

Hi,

I was hoping someone might be able to give us some advice and information about salaries and cost of living in Copenhagen.

My family and I are currently looking into the possibility of relocating to the Copenhagen region (we have Irish citizenship allowing us to work across the EU) and we would be grateful for any information about expected salary and likelihood of being able to find a position (as neither of us currently speaks Danish).  We know that Copenhagen is expensive to live in but would like to understand if salaries are generally higher to make up for this...we keep reading mixed opinions on this!

I am currently working as a Programme Manager in the Education/Health sector in the UK, and also have a number of years experience working in both programme and financial management, and would like to find something similar in Copenhagen.

My partner works as a Probation Officer for the British Probation Service. She is aware however that she needs to speak fluent Danish in order to work for the Danish Probation service but is still interested in working within the criminal justice field if possible.

Any assistance or experience of relocating from the UK would be welcomed - thanks!

Hi,

If you take a look at these sites, you'll find out if there are relevant jobs to find, or you can make a simple google search.

As you already know, the range of jobs are limited when you don't speak Danish

Copenhagen and the Copenhagener area are the most expensive in Denmark. However, there is a connection between area and salary. The chances for a newcomer to find a flat at a moderate price is non-existing, newcomers have to take the new flats (new = expensive) in the suburbs. I take this is so everywhere in the world?

Expect to spend about 20,000 kroner monthly on flat, utilities and household.
