Finding your bearings in Panama

How do you get to your destinations and navigate yourself in Panama? Do you use gps systems such as Google/apple maps?

Waze App and Google maps. Waze is usually better than Google maps. Big benefit on Waze is it will alert you to Police up ahead ( Radar Cops) accidents, and reroute you when traffic is very heavy to the shortest route.

Are the gps navigational systems updated enough that they provide accurate information and directions?
Waze is better. But we use both.

Is it enough to simply follow road signs in Panama?
Not in Panama City very easily. Highways are pretty good with signs. The larger city's hardly any street signs.

Is talking to locals and asking them directions the best way to get around? Are they generally friendly and helpful?
Yes. Especially if you speak Spanish.

Are there any online resources or other types of resources to help you better understand the road systems, transportation, etc., in order to find your bearings?
Just Google.
