Private Healthcare for people moving back and forth US

Hi guys,

I know Puerto Rico has their health insurance policies, but what do people do when traveling back to the states and want to see doctors?

Do you just sign up for that states healthcare coverage if you can provide an address? Are there any plans that cover both the US and PR?

Thanks

United Healthcare's PPO  has a limited network in PR and that's as far as you'll get for a seamless network for the time being. PR provider fee schedules and per Diem's are a fraction of what you pay Stateside so local Carriers will limit you to PR only care. You may pursue a quotation for an open access coverage Stateside if your company is > 50 employees but it will not be a cheap quote and subject to 80/20 after deductible and a limited network.

Hope this serve useful.

You could go with a US coverage plan and have no PR plan. In PR you pay out of pocket since in PR doctors charge a lot less and do hospitals. The big issue could be a major health issue, but even then it will be cheaper.
