people keep calling salinas a coastal town but google only pulls up some mountain town way off from any beaches?
Do a search for Santa Elena or la Libertad. Two nearby towns on the coast. If you do a visual of the coast from Google maps, look for the cuving peninsula north of the Guayas river (loos a bit lie a backwards Cape Cod) and magnify the curved area. That's Salinas.
Often times there will be places with same or similar names here -- or when the name is shortened from a longer descriptive name. The Salinas you keep coming up with is an area in the mountains that had a salt flat -- the worde for salt is salinas (saline,
