Register a car with english reg in Romania

Make an appointment at the Registrul Auto Roman for your district. This can be done easily by phone & they generally speak English. The car will need to be examined & a new log book issued. Then the car has to have an ITP test - the equivalent of the Mot. They will relieve you of a lot of money!  THEN you need temporary motor insurance followed by the normal process for numberplating a Romanian car (there are plenty of posts about that). Every document is time limited so beware. Also it is usual to pay someone to sort out the numberplate as it's a tortuous business. You will have to pay the Rovinette & tax to your local primerie for keeping the car on the road. We left ours English plated as the primerie wanted over 4000 lei a year in tax (it is a 4,3 L V6).
