1st Time to Malta - Newbies - Can you offer any advice / tips

Hello,

We are newbies both to the site / forum and to Malta.

We would like to know the "need to know" info as we are only going for a week, and do not want to waste time and get straight on with the fun!

Can you advise us on a ferry crossing from Malta to Sicily / other points in Italy, as we definately want to do this.

We are staying at Fortina Hotel, and spent a long time reading the reviews.

Hope you can give us some good tips / advise.

Thanks

ferry to Sicily....   My wife and I took one of those about 3 months ago, it wat through Vitrual tours got on a bus in sicily and sat on our a$$eS all day while they drove around to some little village in the mountains, then to aetna then finally back to home base....

hated it, 300 kilomiters in 1 day...  do your homework on that one, ours sucked!

Hi and welcome.

The winter tours do all involve a lot of busing around. But it is very interesting to see and even go up Mt.Aetna although it probably is very cold this time of the year.

In the summer ( from May onwards) they also offer smaller group tours to scenic or archeological sites, biking, quads and even cooking courses !

If you are first time on the island it might be better to spend more time on the island this time of the year but if you really want to do the costs are 107 or 117 € ( without or with transfer to harbour in Malta) and start at 5 or 6.45 am until 9 or 10.30 pm ( longer tour = Saturday)

Cheers
Ricky
