Could be a beginning as that kind of jobs are paid pretty well, and there is a chance to get a job because most people prefer to sleep in their beds rather than to bring papers out. Unfortunately this site is written in Danish, but I think google translator can manage  the translation a long way.

Thanks for the reply, I went ahead and sent them an email asking about any kind of availabilities in Aarhus. Don't be afraid to let me know if you hear anything about any other places I could possibly find work as I have no problem emailing and enquiring.

It's a shame I need a CPR number to be able to take Danish lessons as I feel like I can pick up the language really well as a beginner (listened to my girlfriend speak it to her parents for a few years now). Self teaching online seems so tough .

You also need a cpr. number to get a job. Without a cpr. number you won't be part of society in any way.

My own volunteering in a Danish lesson cafe lead to participation in an English conversation group (lead my an English expat), a German conversation group (lead by a German) and a French group lead by a Frenchman. Now I teach the English and German Danish. We all help each other.

Hey again Nellie, I seem to get very mixed replies. At first it definitely seemed like I needed a CPR number to apply for jobs, but after going to the place for europeans/foreigners in Denmark, they gave me an application for a CPR number which REQUIRED the acceptance to some place of work for 10 hours a week to apply for a CPR number.

It has certain requirements and 1: I have no Danish relatives, 2: I have no agreement for any type of job, 3: I don't have huge amounts of DKK in savings and 3: Me and my girlfriend haven't been married for 2+ years.

It seems as though I need to find a place to work for the required hours, then fill out the paperwork and apply for the CPR number after.

I'm going to call a few of the numbers which are open tomorrow such as icitizen.dk but after finding the CPR number application paper I have, it seems like I need one of the things I stated above or the agreement for a place of work.

You're quite right.  :-(  In your case, you have to get a job in hand before you can get a cpr.number.
Fortunately, you live in Aarhus where it is possible to get advice and where the possibility of finding a job is bigger than most other places in this country. Good beginning to get professional help meant for foreigners.

You have sent an email to the paper distribution. What about calling them, too? It often makes a difference, and you ask them about the average waiting time for a district. It is much easier to send an e-mail than to apply in person, and it is also much easier to reject the applicant. Especially, when it comes to service jobs, it will be a good idea trying the personal way. Choose some of the hotels e.g. and see if that is the way forward.

You don't need a cpr.number for joining the Frivilligcenter.

I am in a similar situation. Living with my Danish boyfriend and seeking 'unskilled' work. It's quite difficult in Vejen I've noticed, especially when not knowing Danish. I start language school soon.

Ooh, language school. Do you have to pay or what? Have you made any type of progress towards becoming registered? After reading your previous posts it says you have a CPR number, how did you go about that considering you don't have a job?

I replied to your PM but I'll post here so others can see.

I don't pay for my Danish lessons. They're offered free of charge by my kommune to those with a CPR number. You're entitled to up to 3 years of Danish language education.

I was able to get an EU registration certificate (permission to reside in Denmark) by having my Danish boyfriend vouch for me financially. To meet the criteria the person vouching has to be earning a certain amount of money a month and prepared to be responsible for you financially. Basically you have to prove to the state office that you won't be a financial burden during your stay.

I recommend you or anyone else contact the state office for clarification based on your own circumstances. I found the online information conflicting and even confusing. They can make it clear to you.

Now, as for the CPR number, you simply head to your local borgerservice and show them your EU registration certificate and passport. You will fill out a couple of forms then receive your yellow insurance card within 4 weeks. I had mine sent to me within 3 weeks.

Good news, I gave a few of the places a call, I have someone who can financially vouch for me and if we go there with the necessary things I'll finally be able to make some progress towards getting a CPR number/learning the language!

After that I'll just have to worry about the job situation but I'm sure I'll find something once I show them my amazing Danish skills

Hi there,i've been facing the same sort of minefield. i am from wales but i moved here to nyborg with my danish wife of two years on the 11th august
i've been trying to get an Eu registration certificate,but from what i can gather you need a job to get one,and for that you need a cpr number and for that you need a registration certificate. :-/   
im a qualified electronic test technician,but after many job applications it seems that my qualifications are not recognised in denmark :-( and as such that avenue is closed for the time being.
at the moment i would take any job i was offered,i am not at all fussy. a job is a job.

Does anybody know if being married for 2 years makes a difference to my situation?
Does anybody know what the income level is for the person who vouches for you is?
