Get yourself registered on the job agency books, that's about all you can do.

You'll need your CV up to date for any interviews, sometimes hard copy qualifications are required to be seen at interview.

If your skills are in book keeping or accountancy you shouldn't have a problem getting work as your skills can be applied to all organizations.
Working in the NHS as it's pluses because you can move to different area hospitals if need be and still retain your pension, just a thought.
