How to get a company to sponsor to get work visa

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

In order to get a UK work visa, you will need to qualify as a skilled migrant and get a job that is eligible for the scheme, to find that out, you need to follow this link to the UK Gov website and then follow the information on the screen.

You basically need to find out the Occupation code for the job you are interested in, then search for it on the website (link) to see if the generic job qualifies; I just tried it out using Doctor as a job and it appears to work properly. If your job doesn't come up in the search, then it almost certainly doesn't qualify for a skilled migrant visa. If it does come up, then you can search for work in that field; how to find a job, search the Internet for recruiters specialising in your field, contact them, send them your CV. Also, join the LinkedIn group and reach out to your peers, asking them who is recruiting and where.

If you are hoping to get a skilled migrant visa as a barman, then you need to rethink your strategy; although many bars are looking for bar staff, the days of walking the street knocking on doors now only work if you have a UK passport. My advice is to look for work using your existing skills and qualifications, you'll find it easier to get past a recruiter using that method. You haven't told us what they are, so I can't help you further with that.

The cost of living is a consideration - London is expensive. The Numbeo website provides information on this; you can check out data for London by following this link. You can use it as a tool to compare other cities and countries.

I notice you also put out a query for Canada, you may find it easier there.

I am looking at getting a sponsor for a certified Nursing Assistant in the health sector. A lot of the recruiters indicate that one has to have a right to work in the UK but it's very hard to get a sponsor in order to get a visa.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

There is no such thing as a "certified Nursing Assistant" in the UK; I'm assuming you mean a "Nursery Assistant"; this is a Band 1 position and as such is not regarded as a skilled position; these roles would not qualify for immigration sponsorship.

The nursing trade above this goes:

• Band 2 Healthcare Assistant
• Band 3 Emergency Care Assistant
• Band 4 Assistant nursing practitioner
• Band 5 Newly qualified nurses and Staff Nurses
• Band 6 Nursing Specialist
• Band 7 Advanced Nurse Practitioner
• Band 8 Matron
• Band 9 Consultant Nurse

I've generalised these, there are lots of different healthcare disciplines in this group and I can't list them all; the grades that would attract NHS immigration sponsorship, are Band 5 and above; all of these grades have University degrees in their relevant nursing skill.

So, advice - if your heart is set on coming to the UK and working in the Healthcare sector, then you need to go back to school and get your Nursing degree.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.  With regards to the UK, not much has changed since I responded to the OP almost a year ago; my advice is to read Post 2 of this thread.

For the Netherlands, one of the first things you will need to do in order to get a work visa is to be able to speak Dutch well enough to pass the MVV Civic Integration exam, so if you speak, read and write Dutch, then you can use social media (Google, LinkedIn etc) to find agencies and your peers, then ask them who is hiring and where.
