Leaving Belize [once you come under the QRP program]- Is it difficult?

Just wondering how difficult it would be to move out of Belize once you come in under the QRP program.  Say, after a year, health problems make it difficult to stay, then what would be involved to sell a home?  Can you take your personal effects out, or give them away?  Thanks for any comments.

Hello color2

Welcome to Expat.com

Hope somebody who has been though there can give you a more accurate answer, but it is known that some expatriates sell everything they have (house/home/furnitures) whenever they decided to move away from any country they relocated.

Plz plan to rent for a year, while you determine if Belize is for you.   do not believe a single thing any realtor tells you about buying and selling property in Belize until you have lived here and done your own research.    It is taking years to sell houses.    easy to buy, hard to sell.   prices are inflated up to 100% for the unwary.

also, if you come in on the QRP program, and leave within the first 10 years (unsure about the exact time), in theory you will have to pay the duty that you avoided when using QRP.

If you are having significant health problems, do not come here.    Routine medical care is available.   Complex care or emergency care is not available.
