Motor Bikes in Maurituis

I have a Harley davidson motorbike and would dearly love to bring it with me to Maurituis, what costs could I expect asside from shipping costs, it's 1 year old and it's my baby. . .!!!

Cliffy.

Hi Cliffy,

Well I know that for cars, you can expect custom duty and VAT charges, so it should be more or less the same for motorbikes....If you want I can put you in touch with a Freight Forwarder/Shipping agent in London who specialises in sending cargo to Mauritius...They should be able to get the info you need...

Take Care
Fred

Hi there - interested to know what you found out and did you end up taking your Harley along with you. We are looking at taking ours from South Africa to Mauritius if it's possible. Also interested to know if there are any places authorised to service Harleys?

My personal opinion is it is not worth bringing in a second hand bike or car.  All the duties and hassles you have to go through and you never get your money back when you leave....

There is one guy on ther island who can service Harleys - Paul Wrenn- however he is not an authorised harley service technician but he knows everything about them.
As for bringing your bike over, you will pay a lot in duty and taxes they charge roughly 50% of the value and you would have to go through a customs agent to get your bike through customs and they will want a fee for that also.
There is a compnay supposedly starting up a Harley dealership soon but like everything here, it takes forever.
