Moving to Riga, in need of advice

Hi,

I'm moving to Riga at the start of October and I am hoping somebody can lead me in the right direction with a few things.

I'm actually coming to Riga to look for a job, I work as a croupier and am interested in the online casinos side of things, (or normal casinos)  if anybody could give me an address for these companies that would be much appreciated.

Where is a good area to move to with a budget of around 500 euros a month? Should I wait till I come to rent somewhere or should I do it online beforehand?

Do you still use the Lat or is everything moving to euros?

Thanks for your help.

Hi, your timing is quite bad as the biggest online casino company here is moving to Malta in January! There are plenty of normal casinos but I don't really know too much about them to be honest. You're probably better off waiting til you get here to find a place as you'll want to look at it in person. There are a lot of dodgy places! I've gone through this agency a couple of times - cityreal.lv so you can check out a few pics and get an idea of prices. We're still using the lat but some shops have started accepting the euro and we switch in January. Feel free to send me a message if you have any other questions! Linda.

hi,
I'm Peter from Egypt
I want to move to Latvia at the earliest and also I want to work there
I work an accountant and also do another work, driving heavy equipment (forklift)
Are these jobs available there
What is the cost of living there
With greetings

Yeah the Euro official switchover is 1st January 2014 - but legally all shops now have to have both LVL and EUR prices mentioned - although most shops make a note that they do not accept Euros yet.

no idea about online casinos I'm afraid, but surely the nature of the job means you can do that from anywhere with a good internet connection.

Latvia has something like the 4th or 5th best/fastest internet connection in the world, so you should be able to find accommodation with fibre optic connections if it's a newer building, or at least fast speed if it's an older one.

Good luck!
