Gas Appliances

I would like to bring in appliances from the U.S. but I'm concerned about the gas range and gas dryer.  I have talked to the people at home depot who tell me that all gas appliances can be changed to propane (LP) by changing the orifice on the appliances but is this the then o.k. to use for butane gas?  I don't want to waste my money on these appliances and then find out I can't use them. We are going to be living near Corozal.

It can be done -- I just happened to read this blog post today, from a couple also living in/near Corozal:

Kitchen Remodel Gas Range

Good luck!

You can use them without issue. Just change the regulator and it will do okay. You can have one of the hardware stores in Spanish Lookout or BAH in Belmopan do a conversion if you need one. We took down an lp top mount gas stove went to the HW store and put a butane regulator and it has worked fine. Just ask them for a filter though. The gas will dirty up your stuff, cost you to have someone come out to clean out the system.
