Coping with loss in Kuwait

Hello everyone,

Managing or preparing for a death in Kuwait is a complex process that requires a thorough understanding of the laws and procedures in place in Kuwait.

This situation raises several questions:

What are the steps to take to retrieve the belongings of a deceased loved one in Kuwait?

What are the resources or specialised institutions available to assist in this process? What types of services can they offer in this context?

In the case of a will, how can one ensure that it is recognised and respected in Kuwait? What challenges arise from differences in legislation?

Who should be informed first of the death of a loved one in Kuwait? What are the most effective communication channels for notifying relatives and institutions?

What are the implications for dependent visas, such as those for spouses and children, when the visa holder passes away in Kuwait? What steps need to be taken to address this situation?

Please feel free to share any information you find useful and your experiences on this topic.

Thank you for your contribution.

Hi Cheryl,

Thank you and well noted your concern.  In fact there's no such offices in Kuwait to help you out, but depends upon case by case it's been handled.

Most such cases there are some relatives or friends of deceased inside Kuwait and they will handle it.  Regarding any financial matters of the deceased, there need to be some Power of Attorney duly signed and attested from the concerned embassy / foreign affairs which should be again to be attested from Foreign affairs in kuwait to submit to relevant office / bank to settle his account.

In the meantime if you have any further clarification please don't hesitate contact me.

Hope by this I have cleared some of your doubts.

Regards,

Thomas
