My wife did not want to move to the states when my contract with the Army ran out so I went "Dances With Wolves" and stayed, learned the language and during that time we've had three beautiful children and developed a strong marriage. Nuremberg will never be home, but it is where my wife and kids are... With that I am content. When a Franconian likes you they will insist on creating an absolutely unnecessary confrontational situation just so they can say "this is my friend, we hated each other when we first met."
The people are honest, crime is low, I feel safe and never feel as though I have to worry about what might happen to my kids when I'm not around them.
The locals enforce rules that don't even exist other than in their heads. Staring is not rude. Personal space is a foreign concept. Cutting in line is perfectly acceptable. "Excuse me" is only used for asking directions.
Being a teenager, going to school.
Everything, it's my hometown.
Being away from there.
