While living in Europe, I only knew about the Caribbean as the place where pirates sailed the high seas and where many of their gold-laden ships sank leaving treasures behind to be discovered Now that I am already here, other realities came up. Within a relatively small area, several cultures co-exist: Spanish, French, Dutch, Danish, English, American and indigenous. Expat communities began to take shape in the 1960's, with an increasing influx for the past ten years. The weather is great: who the heck needs winter? However, upon settling down in this small island, I can say that I discovered treasures of a different nature. Contact me if you want to open a dialogue and find out what they are! What I shall tell you about is the world's best secret, personal, portable, exciting and rewarding profession. ALL EXPATS MAKE GROSS MISTAKES AND SO IS IN ST. LUCIA. ALL EXPATS ERR IN BELIEVING THEY WILL FIND SUCCESS ABROAD BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO FIND IT AT HOME. MANY OF THEM REGRET AND GO BACK TO THEIR BIRTHPLACE OR ELSEWHERE. TO FIND OUT THE TWO BIG SECRETS OF LIVING WELL IN THE TROPICS, JUST ASK ME. (I miss basic text formatting features for our expat profiles at this web page).
I joined expat.com on 14 January 2010.

The latin temperament & outlook on life, the varied landscape, the four seasons, the great variety of folk music, the Danube river, the Black Sea, the many tourist resorts, the food, the many, many excellent wines ... Hey, it's home.
Social madness and experiments on living humans such as: socialism, communism, mass indoctrination, single party system, omnipresent black market, political party cronies, the big-time liars, compulsory military service for a system one can only hate, worthless currency, the Iron Curtain.
