Introduction
I am from Washington DC and I am currently a foreign student studying Chinese at National Taiwan University in Taipei. I have extensive experience in French and German and more recent experience with Mandarin Chinese through the US Army and study here in Taiwan. I have traveled quite a bit during my life, including most of Europe, China and Taiwan.

Expat experience
English teacher and student
Small town, beautiful rural area (Deep Creek Lake), winter and summer activities
People were not very accustomed to diversity or foreign languages and international issues.
Stationed as a soldier in 1st MI Battalion in Wiesbaden, which is neighboring city to Mainz.
Steady work and opportunity to travel in Germany and France, practice my German.
Could not really use any language in my job or on the base, as we almost entirely communicated in English only since no others soldiers spoke any other languages that I spoke.
Study abroad as a French Major with Bates College
Small comfortable and beautiful city, rich history and great food.
College student studying German and German history during semester abroad
Incredibly fascinating city, very rich cultural and historical city and fun nightlife.
Occasionally felt difficult to express things in German to host family and locals
High School Student
Great opportunity for immersion and learning about French people and education system
My level of French sometimes left me feeling lost and behind my classmates at times
