Brown Memsahib
Newly married after a whirlwind courtship I moved to Cambridge with my husband. Leaving behind my beloved Delhi, my home for over twenty five years. It was like switching from the technicolor 80's to a sedate black and white silent movie. I miss the colors, sounds and street food of Delhi. I acutely miss the warmth of my ancestral home, the bustling kitchen a hive of activity, a gaggle of women gossiping, laughing and often fighting together. I could give anything for them to come and enliven my kitchen, roll out rotis, chop vegetables and grind spices while our chatter bubbles up like hot oil in a kadai. Alas, I am destined to be a trailing spouse, a woman trying to recreate home in an alien land. But I am determined to make the most of my new life. Come join me in my journey as I cook, eat, love, laugh and live my way through England. Welcome to a "Brown Memsahib’s" diary.
