Did you see the post I wrote on house renting? Depends how much you mean by not too much. You can stay in a decent enough guesthouse for $10 per night, especially in August when it is still low season. Check out the blog and email me if you have further questions. Ban Navienkham could be a good place for you, and there is usually a few suitable places to rent for foreigners out there that aren't too expensive. http://falangprabang.blogspot.com/2012/03/luang-prabang-house-rent.html
