Part time living in Canada for an American - Easy?

I'm new to this post, so please bear with me.
We have many Canadian citizens living in USA for six months( primarily winter months). How difficult would it be for an American to live in Canada...say, during Spring to Fall (I live in New Mexico, so would like to escape the Summer heat).

Same as the snowbirds so long you can prove that , as a US citizen , you are covered for medical and enough to live on without having to had employment .
