Shame to spit in public places

Ramadan is an auspicious and glorious month for fasting and seeking forgiveness.  Some people believe, Swallowing saliva is forbidden during fasting and they spit out even in public places. It is disgusting to walk on the pavements . Further, we must be aware that most of the people go for walks and children play around. Don't liter the places. Shame.......on you.keep the city clean.

Hello laila kasali,

While I tend to agree with you that spitting is a disgusting habit, especially in a public place; when we're talking about a person's freedom of choice of religion and their right to adhere to the tenets of their faith we of different faiths and different cultures should be prepared to make some accommodations. These individuals should also be willing to understand our point of view as well and make some accommodations for us as well.

I wonder why nobody has ever suggested that they carry with them some kind of recipient to collect their spittle, spit their saliva into it discretely away from view and dispose of it at some later time in a sanitary manner, such as flushing it down a toilet or washing it down a sink? Certainly this would be less offensive to everyone and it would also leave our streets cleaner and prevent any chances of spreading diseases.

While public smoking is prohibited, why not...... prohibit public spitting . Both are carriers of disease.
