Freelancing working company based in Europe

Hi everyone,

     Hope you guys doing great.

I have spouse visa and I am staying Malaysia. I lost my job from  Malaysian company due to coivd . Now i have got new  freelance working contract from one of the European country. Do i need to get the work permit/endosment   to do freelance work for different country (Company is 100% originated   outside of malaysia and there is no branch exist in Malaysia. Please give me some suggestions on this.

Be very careful what your visa says. If it says no working or not permitted to work it means just that. No work at home also. You can however invest and use your proceeds as income. Whatever you decide you must report any digital income to the Inland revenue. Electronic banking is tightly controlled and bringing in big money is closely monitor cos of anti-money laundry laws. You will be interviewed each time the amount exceeds 500-quid. I currently bank with RHB and use their paypal services. It is fast and convenient as long as the funds don't exceed $100.  Paypal will provide you with a history of transactions for your tax records if you have a merchant account.

You cannot work on a spouse visa of it is not endorsed to work. The work you do is taxable in Malaysia.

Chance of getting caught? Low. What if you get caught? Fines and deportation,  never can come back.

Safest bet is to set up a local company with your wife and pay taxes via that route.

@berry.whitetigerIt's now 2023 and I've switch away from paypal having several bad experiences with them holding my funds for more than 10-days while they earn interest I suffer. I now use Remitly.com App, and funds goes straight into my bank account in a couple of hours at most. Never send money over the weekend as it will be delayed until the bank opens on Monday. This happened because of the Bangladesh heist. Your money is closely watched by the gov so sending big amounts when the rate is high like now it's RM4.7 per $1 is a great time to trade.
