Hello all!
My name is Diego and I am from Brazil. Recently I got an offer to work in Rotterdam as a Skilled Worker. I am choosing the 30% tax rule. I will be moving with my wife and two kids in 5 months (I hope the COVID does not make it difficult).
I am concerned about cost of living, especially rent and grocery prices . I already searched here at Expat and also at Numbeo, Pararius, Funda and others websites.
I would like to ask:
1) The Skilled Worker offer is about €4.750,00 (gross) and €3,900 (net, with 30% rule). What would be the rent limit based with this income? I found somewhere that rent should be, more and less, 30% of the income. If it is true, should it be related to gross or net income?
2) Can I use our personal savings to be able to rent more expensive apartments / houses?
3) I am looking for apartments / houses with at least 3 bedrooms and would be nice to live in Rotterdam or somewhere near (10 km). Is € 1.650,00 feasible? Can it be cheaper?
4) I read that to rent in Netherlands is not easy. How much time should I expect to be able to rent an apartment?
4) Grocery: I know that it is also a very personal answer, but how much a family should pay monthly for grocery / supermarket? Numbeo returns €900,00. Is this also feasible? Can it be cheaper?
Thank you in advance. There are many differences between NL and Brazil and is too hard to me to figure all the context.
Diego
