For those who live near Paute ot Cuenca:

How do you like Paute? I am looking at a house in the Paute hills there that would be perfect for me. I am single, children out of university, and I am 51. I am very independent and fit, and am wondering if I would be too isolated in Paute? I want peace and quiet as the norm but want to be in paute or Cuenca to take in the city once or twice a week. I also love going to the coast like Machililla and Puerto Cayo occasionally so I suppose I would need to buy a reliable vehicle (expensive!) . Any and all input welcome!

Have you been?
Do you know the area?
Anyone there to socialise with?

I want peace and quiet as the norm

fair enough, but how about isolation? No social interaction. Not being able to have a conversation (assuming your Spanish is not fluent. Even assuming fluent Spanish, living in a rural area can still be very isolating due to wildly different cultures
