Hi everyone - I am in the planning stages for my MM2H application and doing this on my own. I would like to get the process right! 
My question is about the validity of the visa itself. I understand the MM2H visa is granted for up to as long as the current passport is valid (in my case, my passport expires in 2025).
I am considering whether it would be wise to renew my passport now so that if approved and granted the visa, I have a longer visa validity.
Does anyone have any advice on whether I should do this
a: just before my application
b: after I receive my conditional approval letter
Obviously the later I renew, the better as I anticipate a long processing time to conditional approval of about 6-9 months. I just wanted to check whether anyone foresees any issues?

But when and if you get your visa it will still be good for 10 years (actually 9 1/2 as they ask you to renew 6 months before the visa expires). What will happen is the visa will be transferred to your new passport for the remaining amount of eligibility.
So let's say you get the visa in December 2021. It would expire in December 2031. Apply for your new passport and when you receive it take it and your old one to Immigration with the requisite application (say in July 2025...if original passport expired in December 2025) . The visa would be transferred into the new passport and be good to December 2031.
