I am heading back to Jordan for about a year, and will be buying a car there. What are the requirements for registering the car? I am not a diplomat, nor do I work for an NGO.

It depends on your nationality, and the reason of visiting Jordan.

To register a car in Jordan for non Jordanians, you will need to have a valid residency.
I would recommend that you bring in a car from your home country. It can stay with you 8 months before you need to ship it back or pay some fine if you keep it for additional time.
Anyways, your residency will need at least 1 to two months to be ready from your entrance if you work, so if you are staying a year or so, then this is a good option that saves you money.
