Can anyone recommend the best resources for finding long term rental housing in the Algarve? I know there are reasonable rentals out there but the typical search sites tend to list only the more expensive options. Is it common to place ads in local papers for housing? What other methods do people use?

I would be interested in the same question as applied to all of Portugal as well. It seems to be one of the biggest challenges of finding long-term rentals is finding a source to explore. Thank you for the question.
