Re: Living in Saitama

Hi there Julien, I must congratulate you on creating such an awesome site.

I like living in the Saitama area b/c it is a nice suburban area.  We enjoy very easy access too and from Tokyo as well as the surrounding country side.  The Saitama International Association also strives to make life for foreigners easier here.  They even have a monitoring program where they conduct surveys and get feedback from the foreigner community.

That being said, work can be fairly limited here if you don't speak Japanese, but that really applies every where in Japan.  Most people will either be teaching English, or working for a company in Tokyo.  The former is more common though.  Also, land/real estate prices here are fairly high though not as ridiculously expensive as in Tokyo.  I come from the American south though, so I am a bit biased here.

Cheers!

Re: Living in Saitama

In my previous post, I forgot to say that people living in Saitama enjoy relatively easy access to both IKEA and Costco for their furniture and foreign food needs, respectively.  Especially for those of us in Eastern Saitama, both are only about 30 minutes away by car.

Also, Koshigaya Laketown in Saitama is also home to the largest super mall in Japan (at the moment)
