Endorsement of wife's name into the husbands passport necessity

Hi Friends,

          Can anyone suggest me on the topic of endorsing wife's name into husband's passport for the process of family status. I face problem with these PRO's to understand their language and most often they aren't capable to get the updates too. It is said or spoken outside that an attested marriage certificate is far enough to apply for a family status and endorsement of my wife name into my passport is not necessary and others say no you have to endorse. So which is true and which is false. For your kind information my marriage certificate is completely attested with all the procedures.
