Go out and live with american roomates. Not to be with strangers like people from where you're from. It's one of the best way to make friends I think.
Maybe also doing sports.

Hi there,
San Francisco is a very social city. There r tons networking and parties 7 days a week. There r some website like meetup.com. U could find some meetup in ur interests and meet some people to do actives together! In my opinion, doing some sports or hobbies r the best way to meet people. U could find people surfing, windsurfing in crisis filed. I know a lot of my friends go there regularly. Also, u could use facebook to find some events and parties. Try to connect with people in there.
