Pakistan: around 50 people killed in floods

Hello everyone,

Around 50 people are reported to have been killed in floods caused by torrential rain on Saturday, July 2. Most of the victims lived in a small village in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the border with Afghanistan. Many other people were injured.

The Chitral region has been most affected by floods. According to local media reports, villagers were swept away by flash floods. Significant damage has also been reported. Houses, a mosque and a checkpoint of the Pakistani army have been destroyed.

Rescue operations have been deployed in the area during the weekend. Many villagers are reported missing. Note that the country has been severely affected by floods since the past few years due to climate change.

The provincial government has announced that it will provide financial assistance to the families of victims and those injured in the floods. The army also claimed to have provided medical assistance, food and tents to families affected.

Our heartfelt thoughts go to the families of victims and those injured during this tragedy.
