Cost of Food in the Philippines with A$ conversion

I was looking at some food costs in the Philippine Supermarkets and thought some Australians (or British) might like to compare

Drinking water can vary from 30 pesos to 40 pesos for 5 US gallons (4.1 UK Gallons/18.9 litres)
I tend to pay 50 pesos including delivery.  (The deposit on these containers with taps is between 100 and 250 pesos)

I do see many people buying the 6 litre drinking water from the supermarkets though, at about 65 pesos.

What made me think of it today was seeing someone buy 10 of these 6 litre bottles, at SM.
So they paid about 400 pesos for 60 litres and had to carry them home.
While I had 40 litres being delivered to my place for 100 pesos.
60 litres in some locations would be as low as 100 pesos, delivered.

And do not forget the servings of foods serve in the restaurant here in the Philippines; the serving is small and expensive;

That is a good point. The local food in restaurants is aimed at a Filipino stomach size :)

Chowking is a good example of what is available, with regard to sizes.
Their Pork Chop meal (nothing like a Pork Chop though) comes in two sizes:
The 99 peso (A$3) normal (suitable for many Filipimos)
The 175 peso (A$5.50)  "Lauriat" version (more suitable for a western stomach) ;)

This is the 99 peso Pork Chop..
