Rubber grommets....

I see noone can answer: so can't I, I have no idea what this thingamajig is. If it's a car part, then it is indeed a tough area, we don't have the kind of retail parts stores like they have in the US.
If it's something you don't mind buying used, then specialized scrap yards called "bontó" are the default option for locals.
Repair shops get their parts wholesale from places like unixauto.hu not sure they do retail.

So you might end up buying a car part for home repair from the car mechanic you wanted to avoid by doing it yourself :-)

This is really bizarre. These things are so trivially simple, they should be available anywhere from just about anyone (including the likes of OBI etc)!

You use them to block holes in your car or elsewhere. The ones with holes in are for cables to pass through and provide some level of water/dust/rub protection. 

In my case, the dreaded Martens have got in and eaten a load of them. They've also eaten some of my door seals but I think I might be able to bodge repair it with some rubber glue sealant (probably the stuff used for neoprene wet suits).

Any idea where I can get rubber glue as well?

OK, now I understand what it is, still no idea where to get it :-)
I can give you a more generic term: "gumitömítés"

The genuine Hungarian solution would involve a dull knife, rubber mudflaps from the ancient socialist cars, and a few "clicks" worth of siloplast from the industrial dispenser :-)

rubber glue is "gumiragasztó"

When you're living in the kind of pine marten country you have out there in the wilds of Budakeszi, you need to be able to get down all those steep hills safely.  You might want to consider laying down chicken wire under your car at night, to stop the martens taking out your brake cables.

If you aren't able to garage your car, I'd recommend a dog and a chicken coup.  The dog to keep the foxes away from the chickens, and while the chickens are around, you'll never be short of a bit of chicken wire to keep the martens at bay.

It doesn't seem that rural around here but I guess it's because the animals are moving into suburbia like foxes do. I think I got to the car before they'd really got into eating it properly. I cannot see any damage to cables or pipes inside the engine compartment. I did think about the chicken wire but they've been on the roof of the car and eaten the door seals at the top. Chicken wire would be impractical. The only way to stop it is to put it in a garage and make sure the door is closed. I doubt other techniques, like ultrasonics or sprays will help. Damage is now unfortunately done.

Hi, I would try to get such grommets in shops selling automotive parts, like Bárdi Autó:  http://www.bardiauto.hu/tartalom/uzleteink

I would ask for "gumi záródugó" for a certain diameter, the word "gumitömítés" rather stands for rubber spacer or seal. Alternatively you can search for an electrical specialist store "villanyszerelő szaküzlet" in your area, they also keep wiring grommets.

Yes, that is what I would do, I have no time to go around finding replacement grommets :-)

Very good. Thanks for the tip. Worth noting for the future.

These are the sort of thing I was looking for. I eventually bought some in the UK where they are easy to find. I also managed to buy some blanking plugs (like grommets but without the hole in the middle).
