3 month notice not applicable first contract year????

Is it serious or just a joke?
Was wondering,  we have got contract conditions on apartment rent which state that the contract CANNOT BE TERMINATED DURING FIRST YEAR? A contract is for 1 year.
Seriously ? 3 month notice apply only for next year of the contract. Has anybody experienced this? How to deal if my work contract is suddenly over during the first year and I have to move.
Help getting to understand Belgium law!!!!
what are possible options for compromise??

no it's serious, you as a tenant have an obligation to understand your contract and contract regulations in general and you obviously do not.

2 types of contract in Belgium

1) fixed contract for 1/2/3 years, in fact for any time under 3 years. Normally you cannot terminate this sort of contract at all, unless you have specifically asked for a diplomatic clause to have been inserted. You must pay for the whole duration of this contract, no matter if you move out after day 1, day 100 or day 1000.

2) 9 year contract. Penalty for termination of 3/2/1 months rent if you leave in years 1/2/3. No penalty for termination from years 4 to 9. You still need to give a full 3 calendar months notice, give 2 months notice and you pay for 3 months too!

The only option for compromise is your own negotiation skills. IF you've taken a 1 year contract and not read it and want to terminate it early, well unless you added the diplomatic clause, you must pay to the end of the contract.

Hello,

How does the work contract/salary package stuff works in Belgium?

If you accept a contract(signed) from company-A and lets say you landed at another better offer from company-B before your joining date of company-A and you send a mail yo explain them that you may not be able to join their firm, would the  company-A have the right to sue you or is there any compensation that you need to pay them? How does it work?

Thanks in advance,
