My name is manish. Working for shangri la hotel in chiangmai Thailand in finance department.

Its a great hotel and value for money
We have beautiful and delecious dinner buffet in our all day dining restaurant.

I am also helping nonfinance peoples bu training them on finance and accounting terms

Ok here its comes , I know what you lot are thinking " we got fresh meat here ... , wants to come and live in paradise " .

Well if I can say part of that is true . But believe you me it's not the fresh bit .

I have been married now for 8yrs + with a beautiful 2yr daughter . For the last year we have been thinking of moving back . ( My wife is Thai ) I have lived in Pattaya before , we did have a sit down chippy in drinking street north pattaya . But I do not want a risk like that this time I am looking for a job in Telesales or face 2 face sales . Just to point out another in insurance too .

So please , please let me know if there are real jobs for expats either in Bangkok or even surrounding areas of pattaya , like Rayong or Sattahip .

Hi Julien and all Expats.

I'm a South African male from Cape Town and just joined your blog. I'm here to build future friendships with fellow South African and other Expats already living in Thailand.
I will be getting married to my Thai girlfriend early next year and then move to Thailand ( Bkk or Hau Hin ) where we will be staying for 6 months out of the year and obviously the other 6 months in Cape Town to take care of business.

I would say although the Embassies have travel warnings on Thailand it is relatively safe.

You must look at things in perspective, the whole World is in a state of change.

Even Australia is on high alert.

So dont let the newspapers dissuade you

We shall stay in Chiang Mai from 15 December 2014 to 14 January 2015 inclusive.
My husband and I are looking for a studio  in a condo or house with fitness room and swimming pool (both a must), not too far from the city center (or at least with local transportation nearby (no taxis)).
Although there are lots of choices and quite a few places that we selected, most agencies and/or owners turned our request down for one month stay as it covers the Chistmas/New Year period.
Most people wish to put the price up during this time.  Impossible to get from them how much more and precise dates (i.e. 24/12/2014 to 1/1/2015).
Grateful if you could direct us to find a studio not more than 12,000 Bahts.
For example, one of the studio that we liked was "The Opium" studio which were lovely at 308 euro/month.

I'd suggest you to Hillside 3 Condo locate on NimmanHeymin Road which have every services and full of lifestyle activities and very convenient to get local taxi (called songtaew or roddaeng)
for swimming pool,I'm sure it's not hard to find from other hotel services nearby which is about 100 baht fee.

Voice over covers a wide range of ideas.
Mostly it's narrating a film, or producing recordings for things like ESL tapes to be used in schools.
Such tapes commonly ask for native English speakers, but many use a wide variety of accents, but all using English.
The latter makes more sense for more advanced learners as the student will gain the ability to understand spoken English from all over the world, not just the UK and USA.

For new moving families to Chiangmai, if you are looking for a comfortable house with fully furnished and decorated. My sister has a brand new house this year for rent for parents who have kids three bedrooms and one big meeting room that can be used as office space or another bedroom whatever. u should have seen it 30 years ago

if you want to retire there then get a retirement visa as its commonly called
investing - i suggest you rent with the option to buy
you can buy as a foreigner or in a company set up
if you have 10 million baht you can get an investment visa that will allow you to stay for 12 months at a time

After living and working in Thailand for a couple of years I'm now eager to learn to know another country, preferably Myanmar or Malaysia.

Saw some interesting postings already. Hope everybody is having a great time abroad!

Hey guys, good to know you. I'm in Montreal at the moment but home is Victoria, British Columbia. I'll be graduating with a degree in international development in a few months (knock on wood) and ideally plan on relocating to Thailand come January or March with some friends to work on getting a project of ours off the ground. I've spent a decent amount of time in Thailand and Laos so I think I have a pretty good idea of what to expect.

I've heard that Chiang Mai is an ideal location for bloggers, digital nomads, etc.; I've also heard that the Thai government has been cracking down on people abusing the visa-run system. If we wanted to stay in in Chiang Mai for 6 months or so, but still be able to travel to Thailand's neighbouring countries intermittently while we're there, what would be the best way to go about the visa process? How are bloggers, digital nomads, etc. being affected by the new visa rules?

the new rules arent confirmed yet
it is at the discretion of the Immigration
but you should be able to get 6 months in your home country but not on arrival in Thailand
the digital nomad thing is talk and not confirmed yet
